From the age of 14 Scholes has played for Manchester United where he won many trophies including 10 Premier League's, 3 FA Cup's, 2 League Cup's, and 2 European Cups. At the end of the 2010/2011 season, Paul Scholes announced his retirement from football at the age of 36. But it is not just for this reason Scholes has been chose as Fifa Scout's Player of the Week.
On Fifa 11, Scholes is rated as the tenth best CM in the game. It is hard for him to compete with the younger midfield playmakers but he still has fantastic 'Ball Control', 'Long Pass', and 'Vision' stats. He is right footed and can play in both CM and CAM. His shooting is still at a high standard but his fitness has decreased which makes it hard for him to hold a CAM place for a full 90 minutes. Scholes should not be played in CDM unless in an emergency due to his poor 'Slide Tackle' and 'Stand Tackle'.
Fifa Scout's final verdict on Paul Scholes is that, if you are playing as Manchester United, he can easily last a season or two but will need some back up in the squad. For any other team it is not advised to sign him as his fee is £12m and he is close to retirement. Overall, Scholes is a fantastic player and it is a big shame that he will not be involved in Fifa 12.
Footballers quotes about Paul Scholes:
Zinedine Zidane - "Undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation."
Thierry Henry - "Without any doubt the best player in the Premiership has to be Scholes... He knows how to do everything."
Xavi - "A role model. For me, and I really mean this, he's the best central midfielder I've seen in the last 15, 20 years. He's spectacular, he has it all, the last pass, goals, he's strong, he doesn't lose the ball, vision. If he'd been Spanish he might have been rated more highly. Players love him."
